Hello, book lovers! Today I’m super excited to share with you my thoughts on Sweet Thing by Wes Hale, a new contemporary romance that I absolutely loved. This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review, but all opinions are my own.
Sweet Thing is the first book in the Mistletoe and Holly series, which follows couples who find love during the holiday season. This book tells the story of Jeralt, Antony, and Delilah, who have a complicated and steamy history that comes back to haunt them. Jeralt and Antony are soon to be married and happy, but Jeralt never got over his ex-girlfriend, Delilah, who broke his heart and disappeared nine years ago. When Antony finds out that she is back in town, he decides to kidnap (not really) her and bring her to their home, where he and Jeralt plan to get their revenge by making her watch them be happy (in more ways than you think) together. But things don’t go as planned, as they soon realize that their feelings for her are growing, and she has feelings for them. What started as a twisted game of vengeance becomes a complicated and passionate affair that will change their lives forever.
This book was amazing. I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t put it down until the end. The characters were realistic and flawed, each with their own backstory, personality, and growth. Jeralt was a sweet and loyal husband who loved Antony with all his heart but also struggled with his past trauma and insecurities. Antony was a confident and dominant husband who adored Jeralt with all his soul but also had a dark and vengeful side that he couldn’t control. And Delilah was a broken and remorseful woman who regretted hurting Jeralt all those years ago but also had a strong and resilient spirit that she showed in the face of danger.
The chemistry between them was off the charts. They had some hot and steamy scenes that made me blush, but also some tender and emotional moments that made me swoon. They had some angst and drama that made me bite my nails, but also some humor and sweetness that made me smile. They had some loyalty and betrayal that made me gasp, but also some forgiveness and healing that made me cry. They had some love and happiness that made me happy.
The plot was fast-paced and captivating, with plenty of twists and turns that kept me on my toes. The writing style was smooth and engaging, with vivid descriptions and witty dialogue that made me feel. The book also had some MM scenes that added to the heat and depth of the relationship between the three main characters.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary romance, especially bisexual romance. It’s a perfect read for the holiday season, or any season really. It’s a standalone book, but I can’t wait to read the next books in the series and see what other couples will find their happily ever after.
You can find this book on Amazon or Goodreads. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
